NOT JUST ANOTHER PUZZLE
Early Childhood Development (ECD) Puzzle Resources

The first seven years of childhood are believed to be the most important,

with lifetime implications for emotional health and personal success.

In an age of technology, artificial intelligence and separation from nature, companion animals have an even greater role to play than ever before in the

well-being of young children.

Explains social worker Dr Magdie van Heerden, a specialist in the human-animal bond: “Most children relate easily to companion animals because they are not judgmental and if treated well, they are positive role-models for companionship, play, laughter, love and having fun.  Child welfare and companion animal welfare are intertwined and we cannot split the one from the other if we want to heal our communities and strive towards emotional health.”

Guided by these principles, Caring Classrooms has developed resources to enhance the emotional

development, vocabulary and imagination of young children through

Synergy at its Best!

The Animal Welfare Society (Helderberg) put synergy into the spotlight on Friday, 8th November 2019, by sponsoring Child Welfare Helderberg to receive three of Caring Classrooms' puzzles aimed at developing care, respect and empathy for animals as part of Early Childhood Development.

In addition, veteran teacher Vivienne Rutgers (left) who leads our Caring Classrooms programme, will voluntarily show the teachers with whom Child Welfare works, how to maximise the use of the puzzles as part of early learning. The Caring Classrooms team sincerely thanks Julia Evans of Animal Welfare Helderberg (middle) and Child Welfare Helderberg's fundraiser, Sarah van Schalkwyk (right) for putting synergy into action for a better, kinder world.

Should anyone wish to sponsor Caring Classrooms' puzzles to Child Welfare or any early learning school or centre, or even simply as a gift to a young family member, please contact Louise on avoice@yebo.co.za   -  Should you wish to simply buy one or more of our puzzles - please visit our ONLINE STORE  - Price inclusive of packaging and postage: R265.00

Says Caring Classrooms outreach teacher Vivienne Rutgers: “I am indeed pleased to introduce another school to our resource ‘NOT JUST ANOTHER PUZZLE’. Starting with the very young, these puzzles are part of our comprehensive programme to develop responsible pet guardianship through the teaching of the Five Freedoms for Animals at primary school level.

To be working with the wonderful teachers at RRFranks Primary School in Eerste River, pictured here with me (and some of our puzzles!) is indeed a privilege!”  Vivienne is pictured here with Geraldine de Bruyn, Elizabeth September, and Madelein Muller. Teacher Glynnis Lombard is also part of the programme and we will catch up with a picture of her too in the new year.
