Growing up in a culture of restraint, it seemed to the young Pei Feng Su that the emotions of understanding and warmth were somehow missing. She yearned for affection yet, as she matured, she was to find that indifference lurked in every corner, and nowhere more so than in the lives of animals.

From witnessing the horrific extermination of street dogs, to her undercover exposure of the agony endured by bears farmed for their bile, and undeterred by setback upon setback, Pei Feng Su spent 30 years doggedly committed to generating the empathy, compassion, respect and justice that she deemed was missing from the world – not only for animals, but for all of us, and for the environment too.
